How does an existing eBay label PDF fit a 4 × 6 inch page?
For an existing static eBay PDF, crop scale = min((288−2m)/w, (432−2m)/h) × zoom/100 after rotation, where w, h and margin m use PDF points. A 4 × 6 inch output is 288 × 432 points. Scaling preserves proportions; review complete barcodes and reject clipped placement. For new labels, check eBay’s native 4 × 6 option first.
This tool only reformats an existing PDF; it does not purchase postage or create a shipping label. Supported file limits and redaction restrictions match the general cropper. Check actual-size printing with your printer and carrier.

How the eBay shipping label cropper changes an existing layout
The eBay shipping label cropper changes the page layout of a label PDF you already have. For a new label, check eBay's native 4 × 6 print format first. When an existing download places a valid label on A4 or Letter paper, this manual workflow lets you select its complete region and place it on a 4 × 6 inch portrait PDF page. It does not purchase postage or change tracking, destination, service or carrier authorization.
Output size: 288 × 432 points = 4 × 6 inches
Uniform scale: min((288 − 2m) ÷ w, (432 − 2m) ÷ h) × zoom ÷ 100
Placed size: rotated crop width × scale, by rotated crop height × scale
All coordinates use standard PDF points, with 72 points per inch. The selected crop dimensions are fitted after rotation. One uniform scale preserves the label's proportions; the tool does not stretch width independently from height. Default margin is nine points, with 100% zoom and no movement. You may change these settings, but a selected rectangle that extends beyond the output page is rejected rather than silently clipped.
Source previews account for the original page rotation and the intersection of its PDF page boxes. Entered crop coordinates are measured from the top-left of that displayed page. A receipt beside the label can be excluded from the visible print by selecting the label region, but it may remain inside the output file. Visible cropping is not secure deletion of an address, receipt or other private information.
The export embeds supported static PDF content, preserving existing vector drawing content and existing bitmap content as their original types. Enlarging a bitmap does not improve its detail. A valid geometric result establishes neither postage validity nor barcode readability on a physical printer. Keep the original label and verify the final print through your normal shipping process.
Choose native 4 × 6 or prepare an older PDF for reprinting
For a newly purchased label, inspect eBay's own paper-format choices before downloading. Its official help lists a 4 × 6 inch option. This independent cropper is for a label PDF you already obtained, including an older larger-page download. If the shipping details are wrong, correct or replace the label through eBay or the carrier; moving its artwork cannot repair the shipment record.
Keep the original PDF and choose a working copy here. The workflow accepts one static PDF, not an image screenshot or a renamed JPG. Identify which source page contains each label and whether nearby material is a receipt, packing slip or another label. Select the full label region manually. There is no fixed eBay-layout detection because different providers, downloads and page settings can put content in different positions.
Include all address text, tracking identifiers, service and routing marks and the blank border around each barcode. Drag the selection or enter top-left coordinates, width and height in points. Rotate by a quarter turn when required. Start at 100% zoom with zero offsets and inspect the output dimensions before adding movement. A nine-point margin is the default fitting allowance; it is not a measured requirement from eBay or your thermal printer.
Review each included page. Copy settings only when the displayed dimensions, page boxes and rotation match, then inspect the copied crop because the label can still be placed differently. Exclude receipts or unused pages deliberately rather than leaving an unchecked batch. The tool requires valid settings and a review check for every included page before generating output. Changing a crop after checking it requires another review.
Generate and download the result, then open every output page. The browser tool displays only the first generated page as its output preview. Set the printer to the actual 4 × 6 stock and print at 100% or actual size. Check readable addresses and a physical barcode scan before sending parcels.
An explicit fit-margin reference for a 4 × 6 label
This table is an arithmetic reference for a selected region already measuring 288 × 432 points. Assume no source rotation, no extra rotation, 100% zoom and zero offsets. For this 2:3 rectangle, width limits the fit whenever a positive equal margin is used. These are example settings and formula outputs, not carrier size rules or tested printer tolerances.
| Margin, points | Scale | Placed width × height, points |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 1.0000 | 288 × 432 |
| 9 | 0.9375 | 270 × 405 |
| 18 | 0.8750 | 252 × 378 |
| 27 | 0.8125 | 234 × 351 |
| 36 | 0.7500 | 216 × 324 |
| 45 | 0.6875 | 198 × 297 |
| 54 | 0.6250 | 180 × 270 |
| 72 | 0.5000 | 144 × 216 |
For example, nine points removes eighteen points from available width, giving 270 ÷ 288 = 0.9375. The 405-point placed height leaves 13.5 points above and below when centered. Increasing the fitting margin makes this label smaller; it is not a way to make a blurred original more readable. Select a suitable source and inspect the print instead.
The implementation permits margins from 0 to 72 points and zoom from 10% to 200%, with clipping rejected. It accepts up to 20 MiB and fifty pages per PDF. Quarter-turn rotation is available per page. These controls help repair layout, but none measures a printer's real printable area or replaces a physical test.
Three worked eBay PDF layout examples
A portrait label inside a Letter download
Assume a Letter page measuring 612 × 792 points contains a complete 288 × 432 point label beginning 72 points from the left and 144 points from the displayed top. The selected right edge is 72 + 288 = 360, and bottom edge is 144 + 432 = 576, both inside the source page. With zero margin, 100% zoom, no extra rotation and zero offsets, scale is 1. Output artwork fills the 288 × 432 point page. The rest of the Letter page is hidden from view, not guaranteed to be erased from the exported PDF.
A landscape label turned for portrait stock
Assume a complete label region is 432 × 288 points and the source has no rotation metadata. Apply an extra 90° clockwise turn. Fitting now uses 288 × 432. With the default nine-point margin, scale is min(270 ÷ 288, 414 ÷ 432) = 0.9375. Artwork becomes 270 × 405 points, centered at left 9 and bottom 13.5. The output page remains 4 × 6 inches. Check the displayed text direction before marking the page reviewed. The numerical dimensions alone do not identify which edge should lead into your printer.
Enlarging a smaller existing label
Assume a 216 × 324 point selected region, equivalent to 3 × 4.5 inches, with no rotation. At zero margin and 100% zoom, scale is min(288 ÷ 216, 432 ÷ 324) = 4/3, so artwork becomes 288 × 432 points. That is a 33.333333…% enlargement. With a nine-point margin instead, scale becomes 270 ÷ 216 = 1.25 and output artwork becomes 270 × 405 points. A vector barcode remains vector drawing content, while a bitmap is merely enlarged. This example is a layout calculation, not advice that the smaller source is carrier-compliant. Compare the original provider format and test the actual printed label before using it.
Do not interpret that enlargement as an improvement in the source barcode image resolution.
Avoid reprint, receipt and printer-scaling mistakes
Do not edit a label's address or tracking text to rescue an incorrect shipment. This tool reformats existing drawing content and has no connection to the shipping record. Reprint or correct the label at the provider when details, service or validity are uncertain. A downloaded 4 × 6 PDF is a layout artifact, not proof of a newly authorized shipment.
A receipt and a shipping label serve different purposes even when they share one PDF page. Crop around the whole label rather than an attractive-looking barcode fragment, and keep any paperwork your shipping process requires separately. If private receipt content must actually be removed from a file, use secure redaction; clipping does not establish deletion.
Avoid applying fit-to-page again in the printer dialog after generating the desired size. Confirm paper stock, actual size, orientation and the physical barcode. The first output preview cannot show every generated page or certify a scan. Settings links and copied summaries do not transfer the original PDF; select it again when returning. Query settings may enter browser history or server logs, so do not put addresses, tracking details or other sensitive information into shared URL fields.
Five questions before reprinting an eBay PDF label
01Does eBay already provide a 4 × 6 label option?
Yes. Its official shipping-label help lists a 4 × 6 inch print format. Check that native option for a new label before using a separate layout tool. The eBay shipping label cropper is intended for an existing PDF saved on larger paper, and is independent of eBay.
02Can I remove the receipt from the printed page?
Select only the complete label region and preserve every address, routing mark, barcode and blank border. This hides surrounding material in the visible output. It does not securely erase a receipt or private information from the PDF. Use a separate redaction workflow if the goal is to remove content before sharing the file.
03Will the result work with my carrier and thermal printer?
The cropper preserves proportions and existing static content, but it cannot verify a carrier scan, printer acceptance or postage validity. Existing bitmap content stays bitmap content. Open every downloaded page, choose 4 × 6 paper, print at actual size and test a physical barcode before relying on a batch of labels.
04Does this buy postage or access my seller account?
No. Supply an existing PDF obtained through your authorized provider. The tool does not connect to eBay, buy postage, change tracking or confirm shipment details. Label file processing happens in this browser. Site privacy and analytics controls still apply to page visits, and query settings in shared links can appear in logs.
05Which PDFs are unsupported and can another person open my shared crop?
Use a nonempty static PDF up to 20 MiB and fifty pages. Encryption, interactive fields, annotations, document actions, JavaScript, page additional actions and nonstandard UserUnit values are unsupported. JPG and PNG inputs are unavailable. A shared tool link does not contain the PDF or finished crop; the recipient must choose and review a source file.
