A 4 × 6 thermal page is 101.6 × 152.4 mm, or 288 × 432 PDF points. Crop the complete original label and preserve its scanning space. For generated item labels, Amazon employee guidance describes 0.25 inch side clearance and 0.125 inch top/bottom clearance around the barcode and related content. Check the original Seller Central label and one physical print before a batch.
What size is a 4 × 6 label?
A 4 × 6 inch label measures 101.6 × 152.4 mm. Its PDF page is 288 × 432 points. Choose that exact media size in the printer driver and print at 100%. A browser thumbnail is only a preview; measure one physical test before committing a batch.
Which label belongs on the box?
Start with the original box ID label downloaded for that carton in Seller Central. Keep every printed identifier, routing detail and barcode border in the crop. An item FNSKU is a different label. Reformatting an existing box label does not create a shipment or assign another carton number.
How do I keep barcodes clear?
Keep white space around the complete label content and leave barcode edges untouched. Amazon staff guidance for item labels describes 0.25 inch side clearance and 0.125 inch at top and bottom. Compare with your own Seller Central output, keep packing notes separate, and test the physical print before using it.
Convert the official PDF before changing any shipment data
The box-label workflow starts after you have created the shipment in Seller Central. Download the labels belonging to that shipment and keep the original file. Check whether Seller Central already offers thermal output for your task: Amazon’s staff reminder about shipping labels describes a native 4 × 6 option. A direct, correctly sized download can save a conversion step. This converter is useful when the file you already have places one or two complete labels on a larger sheet.
Mode A accepts A4 and US Letter source pages, including supported rotated pages. It does not recognize official artwork or determine which region is an Amazon label. Choose the starting layout that resembles your PDF, then inspect the source. A stacked preset divides the displayed page into two horizontal regions; a side-by-side preset divides it vertically. These are editable rectangles, so a preset alone is never a completed review. Use the numeric controls or drag a new rectangle around the whole label.
Include all visible information belonging to that label, plus its existing white border. Do not trim down to only the black bars. If the PDF places explanatory text or another label alongside it, refine the selection so the correct label remains complete. Extra clockwise rotation handles quarter turns. The fit margin then gives the selected rectangle room on the output page. Both dimensions use the same scale, so the export keeps the original proportions rather than stretching a barcode to fill the paper.
Review every selected region before exporting. Copying rectangles to matching page sizes is a shortcut for repeated layouts, but it does not prove that the artwork is in the same place on each page. Copied regions lose their checked status and packing notes. Open each one, compare the complete box identifier and other original text, and mark it checked again. Exclude regions you do not intend to print. The first-three export uses the first three selected regions in source-page order.
Keep each carton’s identity and packing notes separate
Do not turn one valid box label into labels for several different cartons. Amazon’s reminder explains that individual boxes have unique labels from the shipment workflow. If a label is damaged, use the corresponding original for that same carton. A local reference such as a page and region number helps you find a crop inside this workspace; it is not an Amazon identifier and is never printed as a replacement box ID.
You may want a reminder such as BOX1OF10, your own SKU, or a quantity beside the packing station. Enter that in the optional note field. This implementation exports those notes in a separate PDF, with the local reference and original source page. It never puts the note across the original label, address or barcode clearance. Keep that separate note away from scanning surfaces and do not mistake it for a shipping document. The note field supports printable English/ASCII characters and does not infer quantities or a box sequence.
Original vector text and bar shapes remain embedded PDF content. An original bitmap remains a bitmap; enlarging it cannot restore detail that was missing in the source. Cropping also differs from secure redaction. Content outside the visible rectangle can remain in the output file, even though the page clips it from view. Retain the original for your own records and use an appropriate redaction process if a file must be shared without hidden information.
Avery 5160 versus 4 × 6 thermal output
Choose stock for the job you are actually doing. The small Avery item layout and a carton label serve different purposes. Avery’s 5160 template page specifies thirty labels measuring 1 × 2⅝ inches per sheet. This tool reuses the site’s US Letter geometry for that template: three columns and ten rows. Selecting Avery does not rearrange an official box label into tiny item stickers; it is an output choice for supplied FNSKUs in Mode B.
| Setting | 4 × 6 thermal | Avery 5160 item sheet |
|---|---|---|
| PDF paper | 288 × 432 pt, portrait | 612 × 792 pt, US Letter portrait |
| Physical stock | 4 × 6 in / 101.6 × 152.4 mm | 8.5 × 11 in sheet |
| Labels per PDF page | One original box crop in Mode A, or one supplied FNSKU in Mode B | Up to 30 supplied item labels; 3 columns × 10 rows |
| Individual item label | One full 4 × 6 page | 2.625 × 1 in / 189 × 72 pt |
| Best starting check | Correct roll width, orientation and no driver scaling | Exact template number and plain-paper alignment test |
| Final partial page | One selected label on each page | Unused positions remain blank; the next batch starts on a new sheet |
For Avery output, use a fresh sheet in the matching feed direction. The horizontal pitch is 2.75 inches, leaving a 0.125 inch gap between the 2.625 inch labels. The top margin is half an inch; the side margin is 0.1875 inch. Print a plain-paper test and hold it against the unused sheet to inspect the first and last rows. A printer’s feed error or scaling choice can move content even when the PDF coordinates are correct.
Print an existing FNSKU without making up a new identifier
Mode B expects the existing ten-character uppercase X00… FNSKU copied from your listing. That is this route’s supported input boundary, not a statement that every Amazon identifier follows the same pattern. A seller SKU, shipment reference, URL or guessed number is not a substitute. The product name must come from the same item and variation. This version prints the condition New. For other conditions, scripts or unsupported identifiers, use the original Seller Central label instead.
The generator explicitly uses Code128A and draws black vector rectangles into the PDF. It does not turn the preview into a JPEG. Our public-source check could not establish a current Amazon rule saying that 128A is the only allowed Code 128 subset; the old developer specification was unavailable. We therefore describe 128A as the encoding used by this tool. Compare the output with your listing’s label and follow the current instructions for your marketplace. A correct barcode encoding does not prove that Amazon assigned the value.
The visible FNSKU stays complete. Long product names are shortened in the middle, retaining their beginning and end with an ellipsis. The full supplied name remains alongside the preview so you can check the variation. If the abbreviated text could confuse two products, use clearer identifying text that still matches the listing, choose larger stock, or retain the official label. This version supports Latin/Western names; it blocks names the PDF font cannot print instead of replacing characters silently.
For CSV work, include the fnsku, title and condition headers, with optional copies. Each condition must be New. Quote a title containing a comma, and use doubled quotes inside a quoted field. The parser checks the whole file and reports an invalid row rather than silently dropping it. If the same FNSKU appears with conflicting names, resolve the source data before printing. Up to 300 item labels fit one local batch; more than one distinct FNSKU requires the separate batch suite.
Check scanning space and one physical print
Amazon employee Cooper_Amazon’s item-label guidance gives clearance of a quarter inch at the sides and an eighth inch above and below the barcode and related label content. The small item layout protects those edge margins. Keep the identifier, product name and condition readable together. This item-label guidance should not be treated as a newly measured crop margin for every possible box-label design: Mode A preserves the border in your original label.
Download the result, open it in a PDF viewer, and select Actual size or 100%. For a Rollo or Zebra printer, choose the installed driver’s matching 4 × 6 media setting and check orientation. Brand names alone do not establish compatibility with a particular model, driver or roll. Disable any additional fit-to-page step that changes dimensions. Print one sample, compare its physical size with the selected stock, inspect the edges, and scan it with your own equipment before printing the remaining labels.
Keep printed labels flat and readable. Amazon’s shipping reminder discusses avoiding seams and folded corners and leaving the box and carrier labels uncovered. A clean vector PDF can still produce a poor physical label because of stock, darkness, printhead condition or driver settings. This page does not perform a physical scan or certify receiving acceptance. If the source itself is blurry, incomplete or mismatched, return to Seller Central for the correct original rather than using conversion to conceal the problem.
Free exports, the batch suite and local processing
You can export the first three selected original box labels in a local batch for free. Copies of one FNSKU are also free, within the 300-label processing limit. A larger box batch or an export mixing multiple distinct FNSKUs uses the one-time USD $4.99 Amazon FBA Thermal Box Label & FNSKU Batch Suite. Existing FilePrepLab PDF or PSD purchases belong to their original products and do not automatically unlock this suite.
Source PDFs, crop rectangles, packing notes, item names and supplied FNSKUs are processed in your browser and are not uploaded by this tool. A page reload discards the workspace, so save the generated PDFs and retain your source. Checkout and order recovery use the separate payment service and require payment or order information. They do not send the source PDF for processing. Read the site privacy notice for hosting requests, optional analytics and support messages.
For another supported paper size or a general carrier PDF, continue to the shipping label cropper. For an assigned book identifier, use the ISBN-13 barcode generator; ISBN artwork uses a different workflow from FNSKU labels. These tools prepare existing data and files; they do not allocate inventory, postage or publishing identifiers.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tool create an Amazon shipment or a new box ID?
No. Mode A needs your original Seller Central A4 or US Letter PDF. It crops and proportionally fits the selected original regions onto 4 × 6 pages. Mode B encodes a supplied X00… item FNSKU. It does not assign identifiers, create shipments or check Amazon inventory records.
Are Amazon box labels and FNSKU item labels interchangeable?
No. A box label identifies an individual carton within a shipment. An FNSKU label identifies an item associated with your inventory. Use the original carton label for each corresponding box and the correct listing’s item label for each unit. Neither replaces a carrier label.
Can I print on Avery 5160 or a Rollo or Zebra thermal printer?
Mode B exports a US Letter Avery 5160 layout with 3 columns and 10 rows of 2.625 × 1 inch labels, or one item label per 4 × 6 page. Mode A exports original box-label crops to 4 × 6 pages. Configure the matching stock in your printer driver, print at 100% and test one physical label. No particular printer model or receiving result is certified.
What is free, and what does the $4.99 suite cover?
The first three selected box-label crops in a local batch and copies of one supplied FNSKU are free. Exporting a larger box batch or mixed FNSKUs requires the one-time USD $4.99 Amazon FBA Thermal Box Label & FNSKU Batch Suite when purchasing is available. Earlier PDF and PSD orders do not unlock this separate suite.
Are my PDFs, product names or FNSKUs uploaded?
Label processing, previews and PDF generation run in your browser. This tool does not upload label PDFs, product names or FNSKUs. If you use suite checkout or order recovery, the payment provider and verification service handle the required order and payment details separately. Optional site analytics and normal hosting requests are explained in the privacy notice.
